Martin's Message, September 2017

Welcome to Sheila and Patrick!

Many of us already know Sheila and Patrick Samuels, the Church Army evangelists who have been based in Walton.

This month Sheila will begin a two-year ordination training course at St Mellitus College in London. The course is non-residential with a key component being a parish placement. Sheila will be studying for 2.5 days/week (including 1 day at St Mellitus College) and on placement for 2.5 days/week (including Sundays).

The good news is that her parish placement will be with us. Sheila and Patrick will be moving to Hersham with their four children, worshipping with us from 10th September, with Patrick continuing as Chaplain to the Surrey Police. As a family they will bring considerable experience and energy to Hersham and we look forward to giving them a warm welcome.

 Praying for each other

Please do use our beautiful Prayer Tree which stands at the back of the church! Each leaf on the tree is a prayer request by a member of our church family or by a visitor. These requests are often anonymous but always heartfelt. Please take the opportunity regularly to check the prayer requests and include one or more in your personal prayers. And please feel free to make a prayer request at any time.

If you would prefer a prayer request to be included in the Parish Prayer List – a copy of which is placed next to our Candle Stand – then speak to Martin. This list is used by members of the Ministry Team and Pastoral Care Team in their personal prayers. Others use it alongside the Fellowship of Prayer booklet, a helpful weekly cycle of prayer for the people and life of our parish. Please see Martin or Katherine Ind to receive a regular copy of either document.

And if you would like someone to be added to the public intercessions list used in our services then please contact any member of the Ministry Team.
